Gluten-free Hibachi in Florida

Short answer: Yes — Fork Yeah Hibachi handles gluten-free hibachi parties with gluten-free soy sauce (on request), a wiped-clean griddle for the GF guest's cook, and clear protein/sauce separation. Flag at booking and the chef plans the cook order around it. No upcharge.

What makes standard hibachi NOT gluten-free

Standard soy sauce contains wheat (and so does our standard yum-yum sauce's mayo base in some brands). Fried rice may be cooked on a griddle that has had soy sauce on it. Teriyaki sauce has soy. So for a GF guest at a normal hibachi restaurant, there's cross-contact risk at every stage.

How we handle it

When you flag "GF guest" at booking: (1) the chef brings gluten-free tamari soy sauce; (2) the GF guest's cook happens FIRST on a wiped-clean griddle before any gluten-containing items touch it; (3) a separate scoop of fried rice is prepped with GF soy; (4) GF-safe sauces are plated separately so no spoon crosses contamination.

What proteins stay GF-safe on our menu

Chicken, steak, shrimp, salmon, scallops, filet mignon, lobster — all GF-safe when cooked with GF soy. Tofu — GF-safe. The only menu item that's NOT easily GF-adaptable is the yum-yum sauce (contains some brands of mayo with trace gluten); we substitute with ginger sauce (always GF).

Severe celiac vs preference

For severe celiac guests, email us at hello@forkyeah-hibachi.com so we have the restriction in writing. For gluten preference / mild sensitivity, verbal flag at booking is fine.
