Can I book a hibachi party for under $500?
Why the $500 minimum exists
A hibachi chef's time commitment is roughly 3 hours (travel + setup + cook + cleanup + travel back) plus equipment and consumables. Below $500 that math stops working for the chef, which is why we hold the minimum rather than cut corners.
What $500 gets you
The $500 minimum pays for up to 14 adults on buffet ($35 × 14 = $490, rounds to minimum) or up to 10 on two-protein ($50 × 10 = $500). Kids under 12 ($30 each) are added on top.
Alternatives if you want to spend less
For a smaller intimate dinner (2-6 people), consider a non-hibachi private chef — different format, no fire show, but lower per-person because less setup. For a group under 10 that really wants hibachi, invite 2-4 more friends and hit the minimum — nobody minds.
Can we split the minimum between multiple small groups?
If two separate parties want to book back-to-back same night same location (e.g., both bachelorette groups at the same Airbnb), we can sometimes do a split-minimum arrangement. Ask by text — case-by-case.
Is the minimum ever negotiable?
For a weekday lunchtime hibachi (Mon-Thu, 11am-2pm) during slow season we occasionally run $400 flat as a loss-leader for new neighborhoods. Watch our Instagram @forkyeahhibachi for these promos.
