Short answer
A 30A family reunion means 20-50 people from three different states, four different diets, and ages 2 to 92. A restaurant can't seat you together, won't let the kids wander, and ends when the manager decides. At home or at a reunion rental, a private hibachi chef cooks for the whole group on one griddle, the fire show gives you the group photo of the trip, and nobody has to coordinate 15 car rides. Our Central Florida chef base is approximately 286 minutes from 30A.
Why reunions in 30A outgrow restaurants fast
30A restaurants that can genuinely seat 25+ at one table are rare and expensive. Most reunion groups get split across 3-4 tables, cousins miss each other, grandparents can't hear across the room, and the bill math is a disaster.
A reunion rental in Walton County — the kind of 6-10 bedroom home people book for a reunion in the first place — usually has a pool deck, lanai, or driveway that fits a full hibachi station comfortably. One chef cooks for everyone, serves family-style per table or buffet-line style, and the group stays together.
How we handle the three-generation menu
Little kids (3-12): chicken + shrimp + fried rice. $30 flat per kid under 12. Fire show is the main event; food is a close second.
Adults (teens through 70s): two-protein or three-protein package, mix of chicken / steak / shrimp / salmon / scallops / tofu / filet / lobster. Everyone picks their own two.
Grandparents and dietary needs: fully-cooked proteins, well-done steak, no raw sauces, gluten-free soy on request, low-sodium on request. Flag everything at booking and the chef handles it at the griddle.
Pricing for reunion sizes
25 adults + 10 kids on the two-protein package: 25 × $50 + 10 × $30 = $1,550 all inclusive.
40 adults + 15 kids on the three-protein package: 40 × $60 + 15 × $30 = $2,850.
Above 30 adults we send a second chef for faster service — same per-person price, no extra fee for the second chef on the three-protein package.
Where in 30A we cook family reunion hibachi
Most 30A family reunion bookings land in Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seaside, WaterColor, Grayton Beach, Watersound, Seacrest Beach, Inlet Beach. The setups we see most are Rosemary and Alys Beach cottages with courtyard pools, Seaside and WaterColor rentals with carriage houses, Watersound and Seacrest homes, and Grayton Beach artist cottages. Anywhere near Scenic 30A, Seaside's Central Square, and the coastal dune lakes is well inside our normal service radius for Walton County.
Most 30A communities have narrow streets and strict HOA rules — we unload in one trip and stage out of a courtyard or driveway; some gated communities (Rosemary, Alys, Watersound) need a vendor pass filed the day before. A standard station needs roughly a 10 ft by 10 ft footprint on a flat, non-carpeted surface — driveway, pool deck, patio, screened lanai, garage, or balcony all work. We bring every table, griddle, propane tank, and serving piece; you supply the guests and the playlist.
What tends to shape a 30A family reunion: wedding welcome dinners (30A is a top-5 US destination-wedding market), bachelorette weekends, 40th-birthday beach-week trips, and extended-family rentals of 20-40 people. Tell us the group makeup when you book and the chef adjusts the pacing and the fire show to match.
Best time of year for a family reunion in 30A
Season matters for both availability and comfort. In 30A, Memorial Day through Labor Day, Thanksgiving week, and the two weeks around Christmas are the absolute peak; shoulder weeks in April, early May, and October give you perfect weather and open Saturdays. If your date falls in a peak window, book as soon as the headcount is roughly known — the $50 deposit holds the slot and is credited to your final bill, and you can adjust the guest count up to 72 hours before.
Weather plan: Florida afternoon rain is normal and almost never cancels an event. Our chefs cook under covered patios, garages, carports, and pop-up canopies. For a family reunion we recommend a 6:30–7:30 pm start between November and March and a 7:00–8:00 pm start in summer so the fire show happens as the light drops.

What a recent family reunion host said
“Everything was seamless at our Airbnb. Chef handled everything. Food was better than the hibachi restaurant we usually go to — and nobody had to drive or wait for a table.”
