Short answer
Panama City Beach has more very large rentals than almost anywhere in Florida — houses that sleep 16 to 24 are standard. That makes eating out genuinely impractical: no PCB restaurant is seating a party of 20 on a summer Saturday, and moving 20 people takes three vehicles. Large groups eat at the house, and the realistic options are delivered trays, cooking in shifts, or a private chef with two griddles.
PCB is a large-group destination
Panama City Beach built its rental inventory around big groups. Multi-family trips, church groups, senior weeks, sports tournaments, and reunions. Houses that sleep 16, 20, or 24 are normal rather than exceptional.
That changes the dinner problem completely. At six people you have options. At twenty, eating out means three vehicles, a two-hour round trip, and a restaurant that is going to tell you no on a June Saturday.
So the question is not whether you eat at the house. It is how.
Three ways groups of 20 actually eat
Delivered trays
Cheapest per head by a wide margin. Two people in the group spend 90 minutes setting up, serving, and cleaning for twenty.
Cook in shifts
Free. Realistically means the same two adults cooking every night while everyone else is at the pool.
Private chef, two griddles
35-60 per person. Above about 25 guests we run two chefs so serve time stays reasonable. Nobody in the group works.
Split up and go out
Four tables of five at four restaurants. Solves seating, defeats the purpose of renting a house together.
The thing that matters most at 20 people: serve time
This is the practical detail that separates a good large-group dinner from a bad one. One griddle serving 20 people means the first plates go out well before the last, and somebody is eating cold food.
For groups above roughly 25 we run two chefs and two griddles side by side. That halves the serve window and everyone eats together. For 16 to 24 a single chef is usually fine, but it is worth telling us the real headcount when you enquire so we staff it right.
Same principle applies to delivered trays — order enough that people are not queuing, and set up two serving lines rather than one.
Locations at PCB rentals
PCB rentals split into two types: beachfront high-rise condos along Front Beach Road, and large houses in the residential stretches and on the lagoon side.
Houses are ideal. Deck, pool surround, driveway, or carport — about 10 by 10 feet of flat space with overhead clearance is all we need.
High-rise condos need a ground-level or pool-deck area rather than a balcony. Most buildings have a grill or event space; the front desk will confirm.
Bay County restricts open flame on public beaches, so we do not cook on the sand. Not a real loss — the pool deck has lighting and seating, and the view is the same.
What 20 people costs
Buffet style at 35 per person: 700 dollars. Two proteins at 50: 1,000. Three proteins at 60: 1,200. Kids under 12 are 30 each, which matters for family groups — a 20-person group with 8 kids comes in noticeably lower.
For comparison, feeding 20 people at a PCB restaurant with drinks and tip runs 45-75 per person, so 900 to 1,500 dollars, plus three vehicles and the two hours.
At this group size the chef is usually the cheaper option outright, which is not true at six people. Large groups are where this flips.
Common questions
Can you cater for 20 or more people?
Yes. Above roughly 25 guests we run two chefs and two griddles so serve times stay reasonable and everyone eats together. Tell us your real headcount when you enquire so we staff it correctly.
How much is hibachi for 20 people?
700 dollars buffet style, 1,000 for two proteins, or 1,200 for three proteins. Kids under 12 are 30 each, so family groups with children come in lower.
Can a chef come to a PCB beachfront condo?
Yes, using a ground-level or pool-deck area rather than a balcony. Most Front Beach Road buildings have a designated grill or event space — check with the front desk.
Is it cheaper than taking 20 people out in PCB?
Usually yes. Restaurant dinner for 20 runs 45-75 per person with drinks and tip, plus three vehicles and roughly two hours. Hibachi at the house is 35-60 per person all inclusive with no driving.
Do you serve Mexico Beach and Panama City proper?
Yes, all of Bay County including Panama City Beach, Panama City, Lynn Haven, and Mexico Beach.
