Assumptions: hibachi includes chef, all food, portable teppan grill, salad, hibachi fried rice, grilled vegetables (2P/3P tiers), yum yum & teriyaki sauces, full setup & cleanup. $500 event minimum applies. Deposit of $50 credits to the final bill. Travel fee estimated based on market selected; actual fee appears on your written quote. Restaurant benchmark includes food + 2 drinks per adult + appetizers at $18/group of 4 + dessert at $12/pp + tax (7%) + 20% gratuity + Uber round-trip ($25/4 guests). Gratuity on hibachi is optional; this calc applies 20% to both for fair comparison.

Why the backyard almost always wins on cost

Three line items dominate the restaurant number: alcohol markup (restaurant marks up wine 3–5× and spirits 4–8×), mandatory gratuity on group bookings (20% applied to the entire bill including tax), and the sunk cost of transportation + time (Ubers, parking, wait at the hostess stand). None of those apply at a backyard event.

The hibachi number has essentially three line items: per-guest package price, kids pricing (always lower), and optional upgrades (filet / lobster). Travel is itemized separately in your written quote and typically $0–$150 depending on distance from our Orlando chef base.
